one last ride!

Layne did a fabulous job this year. I'm proud of you Layne, but you know we still can do better. HA. (i still have to push for a little bit better). John-Rivers had an extremely hard time when the "happy truck" came and got our steer (aka deep freeze). I will so make sure that he is nowhere around when and if we ever sell another steer. I say "if" because Pappy was pretty upset at the fact that JR was upset. And well for those of you that don't know, Pappy is in charge of what stays and goes on the farm. The highlight of Ramsey's Dixie was at the very end. When she took one last ride on her bull Buck. Buck is a 1550 pound bull that seems to like Ramsey an awful lot. She climbed up on his back and Pappy lead him all the way through the barns and to the cattle trailer. The spectators enjoyed the sight as much as i did. Ramsey said "who said bull riding was hard" hahahahah....she is a tough cookie. I sure hope she never tries to ride a wild bull.

OH I WISH I WAS IN DIXIE!

Actually i guess i am in Dixie, just not the Dixie i was speaking of.  Its that time of the year again everybody. Time to pack up and head to the Dixie National. I have some very fond memories of this when i was a child, and i hope that one day my kids will look back on their days in 4-H and FFA as positive ones. It is almost always unbearably cold....i think mother nature plans her February freeze by the Dixie National dates. Maybe we are all just crazy. Icecicles hanging from the belly of your show animals as your washing them, pack 100s and 100s of animals all under one roof, and then let 100s of cowboys and cowgirls skip school to dance in the saw dust to the beat of (whatever is popular this year). Yes it is an experience like no other, and we love it. Thanks Gary for making it possible for my 2 cowboys and 1 sweet little cowgirl.
